The UNC Department of Child & Adolescent Psychiatry and the Carolina Institute for Developmental Disabilities are seeking an entry level, licensed psychologist to provide clinical services, lead interdisciplinary clinical teams, supervise and provide clinical training to graduate students, and collaborate with university and state partners. This is a 1.0 FTE fixed term (clinical) position at the Clinical Assistant Professor level. The position is based in the Carolina Institute for Developmental Disabilities.
Education and Experience:
The successful candidate should have expertise in the provision of psychological services to a wide range of individuals with or at-risk for intellectual/developmental disabilities (IDD) and their families. Applicants must have broad clinical experiences and expertise including assessment, intervention, and community-based consultation (e.g., schools, childcare, residential, and hospital settings) with persons who have myriad neurodevelopmental disabilities. Competencies in the area of autism spectrum disorders (ASD) are necessary and must include both diagnostic services and evidence-based intervention with children and adults. The candidate must have experience in the early diagnosis/identification of ASD and have appropriate training and certification in validated measures for this population. Further, the successful applicant must have experience with and training in working with individuals who have co-occurring IDD and mental health needs. The applicant should have experience working in an interdisciplinary healthcare setting, preferably in an academic and/or hospital setting, and a record of providing education/training opportunities at the university and in the community.
Clear preference will be given to candidates with dedicated clinical training in the area of intellectual/developmental disabilities, specifically ASD, genetic conditions and co-occurring mental health needs. Experience within LEND and/or UCEDD programs is strongly preferred as is prior teaching and supervision of graduate level students. Applicants with experience in evidence-based interventions (e.g., ESDM, PEERS) and complex behavioral assessment/treatment are strongly encouraged to apply. Candidates must demonstrate interest in establishing a related line of research in IDD; prior experience working in research settings is necessary.
